Advantages of Electric Vehicle

Lower running costs
The running cost of an electric vehicle is much lower than an equivalent petrol or diesel vehicle. Electric vehicles use electricity to charge their batteries instead of using fossil fuels like petrol or diesel. Electric vehicles are more efficient, and that combined with the electricity cost means that charging an electric vehicle is cheaper than filling petrol or diesel for your travel requirements. Using renewable energy sources can make the use of electric vehicles more eco-friendly.
Low maintenance cost
Electric vehicles have very low maintenance costs because they don’t have as many moving parts as an internal combustion vehicle. The servicing requirements for electric vehicles are lesser than the conventional petrol or diesel vehicles. Therefore, the yearly cost of running an electric vehicle is significantly low.
Zero tailpipe emissions
Driving an electric vehicle can help you reduce your carbon footprint because there will be zero tailpipe emissions. You can reduce the environmental impact of charging your vehicle further by choosing renewable energy options for home electricity.
No noise pollution
Electric vehicles have the silent functioning capability as there is no engine under the hood. No engine means no noise. The electric motor functions so silently that you need to peek into your instrument panel to check if it is ON.

Features of Electric Vehicle
Battery technology and its durability: The heart of any electric vehicle lies in its battery technology. Advancements in battery technology have a direct impact on the range, charging speed, and overall lifespan of an electric vehicle. Lithium-ion batteries are currently the standard, but it’s crucial to delve deeper into the specifics, such as energy density and battery management systems.
Range and charging infrastructure: The fear of running out of battery power before reaching a charging station, is a common concern among potential ev buyers. Hence, one of the foremost consideration when purchasing an electric vehicle is its range on a single charge.
Performance and acceleration: Contrary to the early perception of electric vehicles as slow and lacking in performance, modern evs are breaking barriers and setting new standards for acceleration and overall driving experience.
Smart and connected features: Evs aren’t just battery-powered boxes on wheels; they’re rolling tech havens. The integration of smart and connected features has become a defining characteristic of modern electric vehicles.
Safety and comfort: Safety is a top priority for any vehicle, and electric vehicles are no exception. Evaluate the safety features offered by different electric vehicle models, including advanced driver-assistance systems (adas), collision avoidance, and emergency braking.

Types of Electric Vehicle
Battery electric vehicles (bevs): Bevs are also known as all-electric vehicles (aev). Electric vehicles using bev technology run entirely on a battery-powered electric drivetrain. The electricity used to drive the vehicle is stored in a large battery pack which can be charged by plugging into the electricity grid.
Hybrid electric vehicle (hev): Hevs are also known as series hybrid or parallel hybrid. Hevs have both engine and electric motor. The engine gets energy from fuel, and the motor gets electricity from batteries. The transmission is rotated simultaneously by both engine and electric motor.
Hybrid electric vehicle: The phevs are also known as series hybrids. They have both engine and a motor. You can choose among the fuels, conventional fuel (such as petrol) or alternative fuel (such as bio-diesel). It can also be powered by a rechargeable battery pack. The battery can be charged externally. To find out more about phevs, click below.
Fuel cell electric vehicle(fcev): Fcevs are also known as zero-emission vehicles. They employ ‘fuel cell technology’ to generate the electricity required to run the vehicle. The chemical energy of the fuel is converted directly into electric energy. To find out more about fcevs, click below.
Application of Electric Vehicle
Electric vehicles (evs) extend beyond private passenger cars; they are a platform technology applied across transport, energy systems, industry, public services and new business models. Applications fall into operational categories (propulsion, energy storage, mobility services) and system-level roles (decarbonization, grid flexibility, urban design). Daily commuting, family transport, long‑range travel (with fast‑charging networks).
Components of Electric Vehicle

Traction battery pack: Traction battery pack is also known as electric vehicle battery (evb). It powers the electric motors of an electric vehicle. The battery acts as an electrical storage system. It stores energy in the form dc current.
Dc-dc converter: The traction battery pack delivers a constant voltage. But different components of electric vehicle has different requirements. The dc-dc convertor distributes the output power that is coming from the battery to a required level. It also provides the voltage required to charge the auxiliary battery.
Electric motor: Electric traction motor is the main components of electric vehicles. The motor converts the electrical energy into kinetic energy.
Power inverter: It coverts dc power from the batteries to ac power. It also converts the ac current generated during regenerative braking into dc current.
Charge port: The charge port connects the electric vehicle to an external supply. It charges the battery pack. The charge port is sometimes located in the front or rear part of electric vehicle components.
Onboard charger: Onboard charger is used to convert the ac supply received from the charge port to dc supply. The on-board charger is located and installed inside the car. It monitors various battery characteristics and controls the current flowing inside the battery pack.
Controller: Power electronics controller determines the working of an electric car. It performs the regulation of electrical energy from the batteries to the electric motors.
Auxiliary battery: Auxiliary batteries are the source of electrical energy for the accessories in electric vehicles. In the absence of the main battery, the auxiliary batteries will continue to charge the car.
Thermal system(cooling): The thermal management system is responsible for maintaining an operating temperature for the main components of electric vehicle (ev) such as, electric motor, controller etc.
Transmission: The gearbox transfers the mechanical power from the electric motor to the wheels. The advantage of electric cars is that they do not require multi-speed transmissions.
