Key Components of Skeletal Trailer
Main frame (chassis beam): The backbone of the trailer, the main frame is typically made from high-strength steel and designed to bear the weight of loaded containers. It includes longitudinal beams and cross members that form the skeletal structure.
Twist locks: Twist locks are locking mechanisms installed at the corners of the trailer bed. They are used to securely fasten standard containers (20ft, 40ft, etc.) onto the trailer frame.
Trailer axle and suspension system: The axles are crucial for load support and stability. Skeletal trailers usually come with 2 or 3 axles, depending on the payload and road regulations.
